Science and Cinema Lecture

  • July 17, 2014
  • 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
  • Argonne National Laboratory, Lemont

Argonne National Laboratory is pleased to present the latest installment of Argonne OutLoud, the lab's free public lecture series, featuring Dr. Marius Stan, presenting:

"Science and Cinema"

Thursday, July 17, 2014

6:30-7 p.m.: Reception
7-8 p.m.: Presentation and Q&A

Dr. Stan is a Senior Computational Energy Scientist whose research is aimed at discovering or designing materials, structures and device architectures for nuclear energy and energy storage. You may also recognize him as "Bogdan" the car wash owner from the Emmy Award-winning TV series Breaking Bad.

During his presentation, Dr. Stan will talk about scientists and artists as creators driven by curiosity. He will touch on the outstanding experimental and computational studies performed at Argonne in support of energy science and engineering. A number of Argonne results, especially in the area of computation and visualization, have unexpected links to cinema. During the audience Q&A, Dr. Stan will field questions about his work at Argonne, science in general, and his experiences as a recurring character on a smash-hit TV series.

The event will take place at the Advanced Photon Source Auditorium on the Argonne campus and will include light refreshments and a poster session preceding the lecture.

The lecture is free, but registration is required. Register for "Science and Cinema"

Can't attend in person? The event will be broadcast live on Argonne'slive stream channel. You can also participate in a live Twitter chat and submit questions that might be answered during the event by using the hashtag #ScienceAndCinema.
