Dr. Yong Zhao and Linda Keane

Dr. Yong Zhao is an internationally known scholar, author, and speaker. His works focus on the implications of globalization and technology on education. He has designed schools that cultivate global competence, developed computer games for language learning, and founded research and development institutions to explore innovative education models. He has published over 100 articles and 20 books. He is an elected fellow of the International Academy for Education. His most recent book World Class Learners has won several awards including the Distinguished Achievement Award in Education Leadership (2013). Dr. Zhao currently serves as the Presidential Chair and Director of the Institute for Global and Online Education in the College of Education, University of Oregon, where he is also a Professor in the Department of Educational Measurement, Policy, and Leadership.
Linda Keane is professor of Architecture and Environmental Design at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she transforms curiosity into compassionate activism in teaching, practice and non‐profit leadership. Architect partner of STUDIO 1032, she collaborates with diverse communities on ecological urban initiatives along the Milwaukee‐Chicago corridor integrating environmental concerns with cultural, social, economic place making. Co-founder and creative director of the eLearning ‘designopedia’, NEXT.cc, Linda blurs the boundaries of learning, work, play and fun presenting dynamic keynotes, webinars, and professional development workshops. Her work is recognized by the American Planning Association (WI Chapter), Art Institute of Chicago, American Institute of Architects, Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture, American Architectural Foundation, Graham Foundation, National Endowment of the Arts, National Environmental Education Foundation, PBS Chicago, United States Green Building Council and Union of International Architects.
Alison Cuddy is the arts and culture reporter at WBEZ 91.5 FM Chicago Public Radio. Alison’s been with the station since 2001, working as a producer, host and blogger. She was previously host of Eight Forty-Eight and Weekender with Alison Cuddy, a weekly guide to the cultural scene in Chicago and beyond.

Trung Le has an incessant energy and curiosity exploring the intersection of design and learning. Le’s recent collaboration with Bruce Mau resulted in the publication The Third Teacher, an incomplete manifesto on how design can transform the ecology of learning. Launching from the collaboration with Bruce Mau, Le founded The Third Teacher +, an education design consultancy. As the world is pivoting from the industrial model of education to a new landscape of learning, The Third Teacher + believes in curating an authentic engagement with our clients that uncovers and amplifies our human capacity for empathy toward designing this new learning landscape.
