The Open Source Mechatronics Outreach and Creative Exchange Symposium, a cross-pollination event uniting scientists, engineers, makers, students, and educators with a passion for technology.
Osmoces will celebrate its third successful year at the Illinois Institute of Technology's Rice Campus on October 5, 2013.
Originally known as the ASME Open Source Microcontroller Workshop, Osmoces has expanded since its founding to incorporate every aspect of mechanical, computerized, and electronic design and manufacturing. Osmoces is a STEM outreach event created to promote and support local robotic teams such as FIRST Robotics Competition, VEX Robotics Design System and associated competitions, and more, by finding engineering and open source content to benefit participants in those programs and others who may be interested in these technologies.
While Osmoces retains its central focus on microcontrollers such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi, attendees will also have the opportunity to learn soldering techniques, circuit board etching, CAD and 3D printing, and much more. Osmoces offers enthusiastic presenters and experts willing to share and exchange a rich variety of information in their fields.
At Osmoces 2013, these experts include members of and involvement information on well-established robotics clubs, including ChiBots, Workshop 88, FRC, Fermilab physicist Bill Higgins; and many other industry professionals.
