BRT 2.0

SATURDAY IN THE STUDIO are studio-based workshops rooted in design challenges, hands-on creative exercises and communication skills for Chicago-area high school students.

BRT is now coming to Chicago! In March, 2012 CAF Teens explored the concept of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) including an introduction of what it is, how it is used in this country and around the world, and most importantly its value to the communities who use this mode of transportation. Teens were then tasked to design a BRT station and create a scale model of the structure and train prototype.

BRT 2.0 takes this concept to another level. CAF has opened an exhibition, “Bus Rapid Transit: Next Stop, Chicago” which explains the benefits of BRT, how it will impact Chicago, and where the initial routes have been planned to go. Now we will design a station using an actual site somewhere in Chicago! We will use the exhibit as part of our analysis and get help from those who have had a hand in bringing BRT here!
