SATURDAY IN THE STUDIO are studio-based workshops rooted in design challenges, hands-on creative exercises and communication skills for Chicago-area high school students.

Design does not happen in a vacuum. Creating an object is reliant on three important steps: idea (to design), devise (to engineer), and manufacture (to construct). For this process to be successful people responsible for each step must collaborate and integrate their work with an end result of creating tangible, useful, functional objects. CAF is fortunate to have partners in these fields who are vital in the process of design and architectural practice.

CAF Teen Studio will feature the work of Engineering and Construction firms who are instrumental in this process. Professionals from Thornton Tomasetti, Environmental Systems Design and Turner Construction will mentor CAF Teens while working on projects throughout the morning, and then be available to present the work they do and answer questions for both teens and their parents. Join us to learn more about the vital role engineers and contractors play in creating our built environment.
