Founded in 1996, the Shakespeare Project of Chicago was created to bring to life the words of William Shakespeare and the world’s other great dramatists; to foster the talents of members of Actors’ Equity Association, the professional union of actors and stage managers; and to present the plays to members of our community for free.

"If music be the food of love, play on."
Replete with music, mistaken identity, lovers and clowns, The Shakespeare Project offers playgoers of all ages one of The Bard's most heart-warming comedies in the midst of Chicago's cruel winter. Jeff Christian, director of rollicking productions of The Taming of the Shrew, As You Like It and The Comedy of Errors, directs an all-Equity cast of Shakespeare Project favorites.
