Neurodiversity & Developing Strength Based Practices

Participants will learn how to:

  • Apply research based skills on how to live with someone who is neurodiverse
  • Strengthen their ability in explicit communication
  • Develop active listening skills at home and the surrounding community

An important presentation for all Parents & Guardians, Educators, Administrators, School Counselors, and DEI Leaders.

Mr. Carllistus Obeng will join us on October 25th to share his expertise on neurodiversity and developing strength-based practices in school and at home. Participants will leave with strategies that foster affirmative spaces to best serve students with Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and language frames that encourage students to take the lead on their executive functioning needs.

Carllistus Obeng is a passionate and highly experienced Mental Health Professional with a gift of fostering the academic, social, and emotional development of students. With several years of professional expertise in the field, Carllistus has consistently demonstrated a commitment to creating inclusive, supportive, and thriving educational environments for students, staff and parents.

After being diagnosed with dyslexia at 15 he turned his disability into a superpower. Upon graduating with his Bachelors in Psychology from Wesley College, Carllistus went on to complete his Masters of Education in School Psychology & Counseling services at Howard University. He is currently a Licensed School Psychologist in the Washington DC area and serves as the Director of Mental Health at an DC area public school.

Carllistus has conducted a number of professional development training in the area of explicit communication,

building community among co-workers, breaking down racial bias in the classroom and developing classroom management skills for introverted educators. Carllistus believes everyone could benefit from accommodations

in their daily life.
