The Bughouse Square Debates

The Bughouse Square Debates are held in Washington Square Park which is located directly across from The Newberry.  The Debates coincide with the annual Newberry Book Fair.  Harkening back to the days of Bughouse Square, which was once a crucial platform for early twentieth-century political activitis, debaters today engage in discourses of politics, society and religion.  Come listen to a range of colorful speakers, or jump into the oratorical fray yourself and compete for the coveted Dill Pickle Award.

The Chicago Gifted Community Center (CGCC) is a member-driven 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created by parents to support the intellectual and emotional growth of gifted children and their families.

We  are an all volunteer-based organization that relies on annual memberships from parents, professionals, and supporters to provide organizers with web site operations, a registration system, event insurance, background checks, etc.
