CLASS WILL MEET VIA GOOGLE HANGOUTS ON M/W/F AT 3:30; ADDITIONAL PRACTICES MAY BE SCHEDULED
For students interested in competitive debate.
We will begin by learning the fundamentals of debate (all the way back to the greek: ethos, pathos, logos), followed by the learning structure of a modern policy debate round, and then to practice debates.
Emphasis will be placed on research, argumentation, and presentation.
We will use the National Speech and Debate Association policy topics, found at https://www.speechanddebate.org/topics/
Debates will be conducted in teams of two. If there is interest, the debaters could register for a local tournament and compete in the novice division (these usually take place on weekends).
Ages: 13+ (exceptions considered)
Supplies required: computer, special headset (details provided)
Price: Free, families pay entry fees & travel expenses (if any) for any tournaments we enter.
