THIS CLASS WILL MEET VIA ZOOM, THURSDAYS AT 10:00

Coding Course: Start coding algorithms, loops, conditionals, and functions all through the blockly programming language. In the second part of this course, students will design and create a final project you can share with your friends and family. This class will meet in the morning, weekly (day of week TBA), for 1-1.5 hours, for 10 weeks through Zoom and Google Classroom. Upon completion, students will receive a certificate.

Requirements: Students must be able to successfully log into various websites and participate in Google Classroom and Zoom independently. The programming software curriculum we use links directly to our Google classroom and a student's google accounts, therefore students will need their own Gmail account, if they don't already have one, or access to one. No prior coding experience is required, but a student's ability to use a computer and touchpad/mouse is required. Students will be expected to complete assignments outside of class time as homework to share with their class the following week.

Joan Clous is a Fox Valley Robotics and First Lego League Coach who uses this same curriculum for her competition team. This course normally takes 19-21 hours to complete, therefore she had to remove the additional Digital Citizenship and Sprite portions of this course to fit it into a 10-week semester.   Each lesson of the class builds off the prior one's concepts, therefore, if you plan to miss more than 2 classes this semester, this might not be the best course for your student, as they may quickly fall behind.

Minimum/maximum number of students: 3/5

Age range: 9-12

Price: $10.50
