We are going to start the drawing class with short timed, pure contour drawing to bypass your symbol system resulting in Shutting down the L-Mode of the Brain (Left Hemisphere).

This method is most effective for all students including adults.

The slowness of the drawing seems to push the left mode deeper and deeper into neutral. Or off.

We will also learn about the importance of composition. At 6-12 and older we will work on objects or ( characters) and their shape relationships and step by step build a form with shading and overlapping and dimension .

We will learn about key components such as positive shapes, negative shapes and the relationships with forms overlapping etc. and there basic shapes breaking down these elements into a well-organized effective composition that can recognize patterns in nature.

The wise artist employs the golden mean proportion in the design of their products and drawing’s because it mirrors the image of life. Since we are subliminally exposed to the proportion in so many elements of nature all through are lives, its only logical we should be drawn to man’s creative compositions that are organized with the same ratio.

If a child can't focus on a certain class day, I will provide Legos for the child to work with quietly.
