Come and experience the joy of the world’s most maligned stringed instrument- the ukulele.
Come and experience the joy of the world’s most maligned stringed instrument- the ukulele. During the first 3 classes, we will sand, paint and string a lovely, little soprano ukulele manufactured by thefretwire. The rest of the time will be spent learning how to play the ukulele. We'll focus on the chords C, G, F, Am and G7 and 3 of the most common strumming patterns. Our very first song will be Harry Nilson's "Lime in the Coconut." If the fates be with us, we will learn and perform, “Lava,” from the Pixar short film.
Supplies cost: $10.50 This fee will cover the cost of the enamel paint, sandpaper and paint brushes. Each student will receive a music binder with a chord chart, a circle of fifths, additional internet resources page, music for "Lava," "Octopus's Garden," and several other fun beginner songs.

It is currently selling for $40.00. It is important that it is this particular ukulele everyone brings to class. Additionally, students should bring the provided music binder with them each week.
In the past, some students who already have a ukulele have skipped the build portion of the class and just participated in the learn to play portion which is also an option.
