Supporting Gifted Children with Positive Parenting

  • October 18, 2017
  • 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
  • Oswego East High School, Oswego

Perhaps you’ve read parenting books and tried out some of the ideas in the books, but they didn’t seem to go over well. Maybe you’ve heard about Positive Discipline, Attachment Parenting, Positive Parenting, Conscious Parenting…. and thought “great ideas…. but how do I tailor this to the unique issues of my gifted child?” It can be difficult to find parenting approaches that meet the needs of gifted children.

Research in the professional and peer-reviewed Gifted journals recognize that certain parenting approaches are more successful or widely used with parents of gifted children than others.

Please Join Us if you are interested in what the literature has to say, would like to learn about parenting approaches that support gifted children, would like to ask questions, connect with others, and perhaps learn more strategies through didactic and experiential exercises.

Based on her new book "Parenting Young Gifted Children - What to Expect When You Have the Unexpected" this workshop focuses on the unique social and emotional characteristics of young gifted children, common parenting challenges and general parenting strategies.

Catherine Gruener is the owner of Gruener Consulting, a counseling and consultation business created to positively affect the health and well-being of communities. She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Certified Positive Discipline Educator.
