This SENGinar will reflect over 35 years of the presenter’s central office administrative experiences regarding servicing school- based personnel, particularly administrators on meeting needs of gifted children and gifted children with disabilities. The purpose for this SENGinar is to shine a light on ideal understandings from policy to practice about a theoretical conceptual framework for administrators who desire to enhance their services for 2e learners. A central part of the presentation focuses on ways to ideally operationalize new thinking regarding a 2e theoretical and conceptual definition and implementation concept for 2e learners-with the principal in mind. 


About the Presenter

Ken Dickson is a consultant and advocate for gifted/2e children and their families. He has been an educator for 41 years, with 30 of those years serving in K-12 administrative roles for exceptional needs learners. His primary interest focuses on maximizing the potential of children with exceptional needs and relationships between cultural and academic diversity. Ken frequently presents and writes on advanced educational topics, topics focused on cultural diversity and academic relationships in a variety of forums. He continues to support exceptional needs learners through his service on numerous committees and Boards, including The Association for Gifted of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) where he serves as Child Youth Advocacy Network Coordinator; CEC’s Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Exceptional Learners Division; The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) Twice-Exceptional Community of Practice; NAGC ‘s Special Populations Network (Past Chair) and current member; Past Member of the CEC Board of Directors and Past Member of the NAGC Board of Directors. Ken Dickson currently lives in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
