Stargazing: Earth Day at La Villita

  • 7:30 PM
  • La Villita Park, Chicago

La Villita Park
2800 S. Sacramento
Chicago, Illinois 60608

Fee: Free

Age Range: Any

Celebrate Earth Day with a special Dark Sky night with the Chicago Astronomer: look deep into the night sky and learn about phases of the moon, neighboring planets, star clusters, nebulae, and more. Community park clean-up for Earth Day at 6:30 PM, followed by a bonfire and stargazing from 7:30 to 9:30. In the event of rain, activities will be postponed until April 29th.

Chicago Park District star parties are fun for all ages, focusing on the moon, the planets, and other objects visible in the busy city sky. Stargazing sessions are typically 2-3 hours. If no rain date is listed, the event will proceed, rain or shine. The Chicago Astronomer provides a large-format refractor telescope for viewing and ready instruction for amateur astronomers ? extra telescopes and sun scopes are always welcome at events.
