  • July 30, 2016
  • 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • The Newberry Library, Chicago

The 2016 Newberry Book Fair will take place July 28 – 31. The Book Fair will be open to the public on Thursday and Friday from noon to 8 pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm.

The Newberry Book Fair, Chicago’s favorite used-book binge, is held the last weekend of July each year. Browse through 120,000+ books in 70 categories, many of which are priced at $3 or under. Scour the sale for amazing deals on cookbooks, fiction, art books, children’s literature, collectibles, movies, records, and much, much more. Admission is free and all proceeds support the Newberry!

Everything for sale at the Book Fair is generously donated. If you would like to donate books and other materials to the Book Fair, please read our our online guide to donating books or call the Book Fair Hotline at (312) 255-3501.

The Newberry Book Fair is a continued success due in large part to our wonderful volunteers. Learn more about volunteering at the Book Fair.

Book Fair Tips

  • President’s Fellows and Newberry Associates at the Authors level and above enjoy early access to the Book Fair as a benefit of membership. Learn more about becoming a member to shop the sale before it opens to the general public.

  • We encourage patrons to bring their own shopping bags for Book Fair purchases. What better way to carry your new-to-you treasures home?

  • Following the Book Fair blog is a great way for Book Fair fans to stay informed and entertained throughout the year.

  • On the Monday following the Book Fair, community literacy programs, schools, and other non-profit organizations are invited to select from the remaining books and items. Contact us to find out if your organization is eligible to participate.
