Abraham Lincoln's Journey Home

  • May 01, 2015
  • 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • Chicago History Museum, Chicago

Join us to pay tribute to the 150th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s funeral in Chicago. Enjoy a performance of “Ashokan Farewell” by Chicago Symphony Orchestra principal tubist Gene Pokorny and an oration by accomplished Lincoln actor Fritz Klein on the fallen president’s vision for the United States and his efforts to move the nation’s focus from the Civil War to civil rights. Guests receive a complimentary commemorative booklet courtesy of the National Park Service (NPS).

Presented by the NPS, this fourteen-city program follows the path of the president’s funeral train. The series features an event in each of the major cities—from Washington, DC, to Springfield, Illinois—that held a service for Lincoln between April 18 and May 3, 1865.

Cost: Free to the public. Seating is first-come, first-served.
