Title: Living with Intensity - Strategies and Stories

Overexcitabilities (OEs) - psychomotor, sensual, intellectual, imaginational, and emotional - are central to the personality, intellectual, physical, and social-emotional development of the gifted. Overexcitabilities confer certain advantages for gifted development and at the same time render the gifted vulnerable to being misunderstood, and potentially, misidentified. This interactive workshop will incorporate vignettes of families we've worked with and provide opportunities for participants to share stories and pose questions to deepen their understanding of the strengths, need, and challenges of living with heightened intensity and sensitivity. Embracing OEs positively and developing strategies for modulating and channeling OEs most positively will be the focus of this workshop.
