Nanotechnology: Learning to Think Big in a Field Focused on the Small

Nanotechnology is the science of the small. Very small, in fact – the structures involved are 10,000 times smaller than the width of a human hair. And yet these tiny materials can lead to big advances, from faster cell phones to more efficient power generation to better medicines. Leading this talk on nanotechnology is Chad Mirkin, director of the International Institute for Nanotechnology at Northwestern University. Mirkin is one of only 15 scientists – and the only chemist – to be elected into all three branches of the U.S. National Academies, and he serves as a science advisor to President Barack Obama. Tickets for this lecture are available online.
