Family Event - Navroz, the Persian New Year

  • March 18, 2023
  • 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Chicago History Museum

Celebrate Navroz, the Persian New Year, at the Chicago History Museum! Presented in collaboration with The Ismaili Council for the Midwestern US, learn about the history and traditions behind Navroz at this family-friendly event through activities such as egg decorating, tile painting, Haft-Sin table displays, henna, and more.

Navroz/Наврӯз (or Nowruz) means “new day.” The holiday marks the first day of spring, so it is observed on the day of the vernal equinox, which usually occurs on or around March 20. Navroz has been celebrated for more than 3,000 years by more than 300 million people around the world, particularly in the Balkans, the Black Sea basin, the Caucasus, Central Asia, the Middle East, and other regions.

Included with general admission.
