This is a survey class modeled on the Big History Project, which can be found at bighistoryproject.com. It will be taught over the full 24 weeks of co-op, with students intending to participate in the 14-week winter/spring session as well. The class will begin with the Big Bang and end in current times, giving students a broad overview of the full arc of history. This class will work off the flipped classroom model, with students watching assigned videos or reading short articles prior to class so they arrive ready for discussion and activities. Classroom emphasis will be on discussion, group interaction, hands-on activities, and writing. All projects can be adjusted to students' abilities and interests. Some mature historical topics will be discussed, including the Atlantic slave trade, effects of colonization, and various wars.

Minimum/maximum number of students: 5/10

Age range: 12+

Price: $10.50

Teacher: Sarah Alexander
Teaching Assistant: Henry Kopp

Sarah Alexander believes that in today's world, we are all too stuck in our personal silos, and welcomes the opportunity to help people think about the larger picture.
