Make Some Noise - Music Workshop

Learn how to use music to tell a story

Rescheduled from December 2, 2021

What are the sounds of our climate? Can we hear the change? Come experience the music of raindrops, the lilting of healthy ecosystems, the crash of climate disaster and songs illuminating both trauma and hope for our future. We hope this workshop will inspire you. If the inspiration leads to you creating your own “noise” – share the audio files with us for our Kids Climate Summit digital collection in the category of Alternate Media (see details below). If the workshop helps you find peace and ponder solutions on a cold December day, that is good, too.

Designed for students ages 8 and older, but all ages are welcome. Parents also welcome and encouraged to attend.

Speaker Bio

Beth Beyer is a member of CGCC and a composer of music and song. She began her musical journey beside her grandfather on the piano bench as he’d play and they’d sing songs such as Tea for Two and Ain’t She Sweet. When she was a stay at home mom with her children, she discovered adult guitar classes at the Old Town School of Folk Music were a great way to relax and recharge in order to be her best self with her family. She taught a Mom’s Ensemble to share some of what she learned and inspired a few moms to begin their own musical guitar journey. Over time, she grew her repertoire and during the first Spring-Fall of COVID, composed her own songs (in her living room) and published her first musical CD; Quarantine 20/20. Her love for music is contagious in a good way. Experienced in home recording and GarageBand, she’s open to providing support for others wishing to do more.

Perhaps this will inspire your kids to submit a musical composition to the Kids Climate Summit MAKE SOME NOISE! Alternate Media Challenge!  See details here: Climate Change NOISE - Alternate Media Challenge.  Submissions due January 8, 2022.

Please register under parent name. The registration form includes questions to provide student's information. The Zoom link will be sent the day before the event.

Please note that this event will be recorded. Upon request, the recording will be available after the event. Please contact us to request a recording.

No refunds unless workshop is cancelled. Fee waivers available upon request.
