Physics Slam IX

  • April 30, 2021
  • 7:30 PM
  • Online, Fermilab

A Fermilab favorite – brought to you in a whole new format!  Five contenders will vie for the title of Slam Champion!

They are currently accepting nominations for contenders.

Do you know someone who is excited about science and their work at Fermilab? Are they enthusiastic, creative, and willing to share their work with others? We’re looking for a few creative and courageous people to take part in the next Fermilab Physics Slam, to be held virtually on April 30 at 7;30pm CDT. The Physics Slam has a long tradition of excellence at Fermilab, and a tremendous roster of Slam Alumni. Past contenders have channeled Dr. Who and Elvis, created Claymation neutrinos, and shared personal stories about their life’s adventures. The format will be via Zoom, and contenders have 10 minutes to convince a devoted audience that they are deserving of the coveted title of Slam Champion 2021. Nominations and applications are open now through February 15. Please provide a brief description of your proposed talk and any other information that will help the Slam organizers get a sense of your presentation style. Finalists will be selected and notified by March 1. Geographic constraints are not an issue this year – applicants can be anywhere provided they can access a solid Zoom link. Slam participants are encouraged to take advantage of the new virtual format to creatively express their ideas. Video can be utilized, but the final Q&A will be live. Volunteer or nominate now to be our next Slam Champion!
