This will be a full proof-based course in geometry, including topics such as similar triangles, congruent triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, circles, funky areas, power of a point, three-dimensional geometry, transformations, introductory trigonometry, and more. There will be a significant amount of homework each week, which will be graded and handed back; course grades will be assigned if desired.  We will be using the Art of Problem Solving book; two tracks will be available, a more “normal” high school level and a “challenge” level for those who want more of a challenge.

Teacher: Newt Sherwin and Martha Campbell

Minimum/maximum number of students: 4/10

Age range: flexible, as long as prerequisites are met

Class prerequisites: A mastery of basic algebra, the ability to learn by reading (or to otherwise learn some material ahead of class), and at least some ability to handle material that isn’t immediately understood.
