Strategies to Foster Tween and Teens Social Skills

  • Online, Glenbard Parent Series

Glenbard Parent Series Presents: Michelle Garcia Winner

Understanding the perspectives of others is key to all interpersonal relationships. However, students with social and communication challenges including those with high-functioning autism and ADHD, often have difficulties understanding that others have a viewpoint that is different and may have difficulties initiating conversation and responding appropriately to others’ emotions.

The author of 40 award-winning books, Michelle Garcia Winner is dedicated to helping people develop social skills, and what she calls social thinking. She returns to GPS to share her innovative “Four Steps of Communication” to help people better understand themselves, navigate the social world, and foster relationships.

Garcia Winner is recognized for her ability to break down abstract concepts and teach them in practical ways to help people improve their social problem-solving abilities and social responses. Participants will learn practical strategies to help young people learn reciprocal communication skills to discover the impression they are making on others, and what they can do to make living in the increasingly complex social world more personally rewarding.

Michelle Garcia Winner, MA, CCC-SLP, is the founder and CEO of Social Thinking and a globally recognized thought leader. She has created numerous evidence-based treatment frameworks to help caregivers develop social competencies and improve academic performance in those they love and support.

This event will be presented virtually. The link to log in to this webinar from your computer, tablet or phone will be posted here when available.
