Summer Reading Kick Off

Authors Natalie Y. Moore and Zetta Elliott will be in conversation at the Logan Center for the Arts for an event celebrating summer reading. This is a family friendly event! Doors open at 5:30pm for a reception and author events begin at 6:00pm.

About the authors: Natalie Y. Moore an award-winning journalist based in Chicago. She works at WBEZ. She is the author of The South Side: A Portrait of Chicago and American Segregation and coauthor of The Almighty Black P Stone Nation: The Rise, Fall and Resurgence of an American Gang and Deconstructing Tyrone: A New Look at Black Masculinity in the Hip-Hop Generation. She is a 2021 USA Fellow. The Pulitzer Center named her a 2020 Richard C. Longworth Media Fellow for international reporting. In 2021, University of Chicago Center for Effective Government, based at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy, welcomed her in its first cohort of Senior Practitioner Fellows.

Zetta Elliott is a Black feminist writer of poetry, plays, essays, novels, and stories for children. Her books include: Dragons in a BagThe Dragon Thief, and The Witch's Apprentice among others. Zetta's work has been featured in numerous publications and received a number of awards. She is a 2022 nominee for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award and currently lives in Chicago.
