We'll cover a brief half-billion-year history of global tectonics and climate change, traveling back in time to see the Midwest evolve from active volcanoes to tropical reefs to a time when the area was a river-dominated delta like the Ganges. Some years later, the area was explored by dinosaurs, then hammered by a half mile of glacial ice, and finally became the temperate region it is today. Hooray! We'll also talk about climate change and take a peek at what the future might hold for us.
