The Montessori Baby: Nurturing Your Baby with Love, Respect, and Understanding

Dr. Maria Montessori observed that all children have “an absorbent mind,” taking in and processing everything around them–and that it is the role of parent to mindfully assist in their learning and development. This also holds true for babies. Natural learners from birth, they observe everything, communicating with gurgles and different cries. How can a parent encourage and support that curiosity in their newborn? Drawing on the child-led principles of the Montessori educational method, The Montessori Baby: A Parent’s Guide to Nurturing Your Baby with Love, Respect, and Understanding guides parents as they learn to nurture their babies from dependent to collaborative beings–and by the end of the first year into an increasing independent curious child ready to explore the world–all while helping new parents find the support and calm they crave.

Co-authored by Simone Davies, a specially certified Montessori educator and author of best-selling parenting book The Montessori Toddler, and Junnifa Uzodike, a Montessori educator who runs her own Montessori school in Nigeria, The Montessori Baby is based on a 100-year-old educational method founded by Dr. Maria Montessori and taught at 4,000 Montessori schools around the country, and 20,000 schools worldwide. Providing families with the tools needed to understand their baby’s unique needs, what they want to learn, and how they can support them in a more mindful, calm way, The Montessori Baby teaches parents how to use the Montessori method in their own home.

Ms. Davies and Ms. Uzodike will be in conversation with Robyn McCloud-Springer, head of school at Chiaravalle Montessori, an independent Montessori school for children from the age of 18 months through 8th grade located in Evanston, IL.

This event suitable for all ages. The event will be recorded and available later on the FAN website and their YouTube channel.
