Online: Star Party

Nationwide Livestream Star Party is heading into the spookiest part of the year by examining things that "go bump" in the Universe. And there's no better scientist out there to help us understand creepy space stuff than Dr. Shane Larsen, affectionately known to our circle as the "gravitational waves guy."

Dr. Shane Larson is the Associate Director for the Center for Interdisciplinary Exploration and Research in Astrophysics (CIERA) at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Per CIERA: "Dr. Larson’s research interests are primarily in gravitational wave astrophysics and data analysis, but he is also interested in various aspects of cosmology, binary star evolution, gravitational dynamics in exoplanetary systems, and Earth’s climate." Dr. Larson is also a skilled LEGO architect, pen aficionado, and the winner of the 2018 Instructables Optics Contest for his tutorial detailing the construction of a very large backyard Dobsonian telescope named “Cosmos Mariner.” Subscribe to Dr. Larson on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/sciencejedi/

We also welcome back NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador Daniel Brian Cummins of Virginia, the Central Florida Astronomical Society, and the Emil Buehler Perpetual Trust Planetarium at Seminole State College, to run telescopes remotely from their locations, weather-permitting.
