In this presentation, Dr. Mukundan will discuss the importance of sleep health and its impact on learning and growth. She will offer expertise and insight on:

  • The role of sleep in learning memory, and procedural skills
  • The impact of sleep deprivation on memory
  • The importance of sleep in long term health
  • The health burden of insufficient sleep
  • Strategies to improve sleep quality and quantity

Tanvi H. Mukundan, MD, is a pediatric sleep physician at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and an Assistant Professor at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine.Board certified in pediatrics and sleep medicine, she treats patients for all sleep disorders ranging from sleep disordered breathing to behavioral insomnia to hypoventilation. Dr. Mukundan believes that sleep is one of the most vital functions of the body as it helps all humans, especially children, learn, grow, and thrive.

Wolcott's First Friday Speaker Series provides a forum for experts and members of the community to meet and informally discuss topics of interest.
The Tyree Institute provides outreach programming on adolescent development, educational practices, and learning differences.
