Celebrate the 23rd annual Museum Day in Elmhurst, a special event commemorating the important cultural value of museums to communities worldwide. Jump on board the Explore Elmhurst trolley to visit three Elmhurst museums for free admission, family-friendly activities, exhibit tours, refreshments and more. Limited free parking available at each museum and City of Elmhurst parking garages.
Activities include:
Elmhurst History Museum, 120 E. Park Ave.: Explore the new exhibit, Worlds of Wonder: Remembering Chicagoland's Amusement Parks, inside the Glos Mansion and participate amusement park-themed crafts and activities on the museum grounds (weather permitting). Complimentary face painting and refreshments.
Elmhurst Art Museum, 150 S. Cottage Hill Ave.: View the current exhibits, Luftwerk: Parallel Perspectives and With a Capital P: Selections by Six Painters, and participate in a hands-on art project in this award-winning contemporary art museum located in a rare Mies van der Rohe-designed residence.
Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art, 220 S. Cottage Hill Ave.: Tour the museum's expansive collection of jade carvings, gems, and more. See the Rock Cafe, and exhibit with three meals made out of stone, and join a stone hunt co collect rocks, minerals and fossils to take home.
