Join us as we remember and celebrate a magical day here at Anderson's!

On October 19th, 1998, a relatively unknown-to-Americans author with a hit children's book in the UK, stepped into our store on a Monday at 10am to find 100 local children that our very passionate children's department had corralled from local schools, their own relatives, and friends. Our staff desperately wanted the store to look full for this event because while the book had not yet taken off, they KNEW it was the start of something amazing. JK Rowling shared with us that it was her first time visiting with American children who had actually read the book already. She signed books, answered questions, and then went on her way - off to create the best selling children's series of all time! Over the years, with future releases in the series, we were fortunate to host her twice more, but by then we had to find auditoriums that could not even hold all the fans who wanted to meet her.

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of this spellbinding day in Anderson's history, we are having a Harry Potter party! Join us on Saturday October 13th for an afternoon of wizardly fun including the following:

*Cake will be served (while supplies last)!

*Costume contests will run every hour on the hour - win free tickets to the new Fantastic Beasts movie!

*Wands will be available for a $5 donation to our Book Angels Program (wand purchase includes a visit to "Ollivanders" and a charms class)!

*Butterbeer and magical cotton candy, courtesy of our friends at Naper Nuts and Sweets, will also be available for purchase!

*A special free photo opp will be in store!

*Harry Potter merchandise (including our popular Anderson's-designed-tshirts) will be available for purchase!
