This presentation will explore effective ways families and educators can work together to ensure students receive the supports they need to thrive. We will discuss Dr. Ross Greene’s philosophy, “Kids Do Well If They Can,” and examine how identifying lagging skills and addressing unsolved problems can help students achieve greater success. Participants will also learn how to create a one-page student profile and use a child’s strengths to build confidence, foster self-advocacy, and support learning in the classroom.

    About the Presenter

Carole Jones, former President of the Chicago Gifted Community Center (CGCC), will lead this presentation. In 2011, she founded SOS for 2e and has spent more than a decade advocating for the rights and needs of twice-exceptional and neurodivergent children at the local, state, and national levels. In addition to serving on the CGCC Board of Directors, Carole is a State Advocate for Lives in the Balance, serves on the Policy and Advocacy Committee for the Illinois Association for Gifted Children, and is a member of the Board of Directors for the 708 Naperville Mental Health Board. Her passion is helping schools and families work together to meet the needs of all learners so that every child can thrive, build on their strengths, and reach their full potential.
