Field Trip!  The Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago

As staff at the Oriental Institute recommend, come visit and "let loose your inner Indiana Jones."  Inquisitive minds, especially in the fields of culture, politics, history, and archaeology are invited. The Institute is a cultural gem, housing artifacts that date back many thousand years to Turkey, Iran, Iraq (Persia), Egypt, Israel, and other locations in what is now known as today's Middle East.  We will participate in a docent-led tour of the Oriental Institute's collection as well as see a film about archaeological finds in Ancient Mesopotamia. Analyze how we learn about ancient civilizations through archaeology. Consider how we preserve ancient artifacts. Listen to and understand the myths and legends of Mesopotamia.
Parents are welcome. A public parking garage (payment required) is located a few blocks from the museum at 5501 W. Ellis Avenue.

Fee to attend: CGCC Member:  $7 for children, $7 for adults

                        Non-member: $10 for children,  $10 for adults

Limited to 14 students.  Registration closes February 27, 2017.

No refunds, sorry
