Strolling Through History (0 - 18 months)

  • September 08, 2015

  • The Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago

Changing Faces

How did people portray themselves, and how did they choose to reveal or conceal their identities? From Egyptian mummy masks to Mesopotamian temple statues, ivory plaques with human faces from Megiddo, and Nubian funerary paintings, discover the secrets of changing human faces across cultures and time at the Oriental Institute Museum.

Enjoy a 30-minute thematic tour throughout the museum with a social component that allows for adult conversation where no one minds if a baby lends an opinion with a coo or a cry. This light-hearted tour and lively discussion in the galleries is for parents and caregivers and their pre-toddler-age (18 months or younger) children. This new program is offered every second Tuesday of each month. Tour begins in Breasted Hall and ends with playtime for babies in LaSalle Banks Room. Sponsored by toys et cetera in Hyde Park.

Registration required.
Fee: $10 UChicago students/faculty/members, $15 non-members, for up to two adults. $5 members, $7 non-members for additional adult registrant. Babies in strollers are free.
