The 30th Annual Newberry Book Fair

  • July 25, 2014
  • 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • The Newberry, Chicago

Thursday, July 24, 2014 to Sunday, July 27, 2014

Thursday and Friday, noon to 8 pm
Saturday and Sunday, 10 am to 6 pm

The Newberry is thrilled to celebrate its 30th year of Book Fair, one of the largest used-book sales in the country. This year’s sale features books autographed by President Obama, Desmond Tutu, and Albert Schweitzer – all Nobel Peace Prize winners; about 300 Polka albums; Civil-War-era Harper’s magazines; and a large offering of seventeenth- and eighteenth-century French literature—in French.

Other highlights include a complete set of the works of Charles Dudley Warner, famous for co-writing a book with Mark Twain, with a page of original manuscript by Warren; a wide selection of autographs, from Nelson Algren to Ginger Rogers; early editions of the Lonely Doll books; many books of Japanese and Chinese poetry (translated); and a rare volume on how to be elegant by fashion designer Lily Dache.

Admission is free, and all proceeds help further the mission of the Newberry. Everything for sale at the Book Fair is generously donated.
